Heaven or hell on earth lies in our own life experiences. Many of us wander on the receiving end of life. We just receive what life gives us day in and day out. We don’t create intentions on how the day, the week, the month of the year would be. Sounds familiar?

Everybody wants happiness however not everybody seems to understand what happiness really means. Is it really something complex? I used to link my happiness with the achievement of my goals, and I find it hard to be happy. Happiness seems to be a puzzle and once it is solved, it just transformed into another puzzle to be solved.

My day use to be very long, it seems there is so much to do in a day. The to-do list was never-ending. Until I started doing morning visualization of how my day would be encompassing my spirituality, health, career, relationship, and personal growth. I committed to this well-rounded process for 90 days, another 90 days, and then it became a part of me. Meaning it became a habit more than a “to do” process.

At first, there was a bit of inconvenience, I was challenging my routine. Challenging my mindset and my actions. I wasn’t sure of how the process would add value to my life and if I can find the happiness, I was longing for by adding a layer to my morning routine which is already hectic. But it did. How? As I said there is a never-ending to-do list in a day. More often than not we tend to be focused on one area or two areas of our life and we neglect all the other areas like health, family, relationships, spirituality, and personal growth.

When I commit to the daily visualization and actions of my daily program, I started to feel one with life. I start to feel happy, and happiness is just around me. I just don’t react to life, but I create it. I recognize when it is time to go to the next activity knowing that I can continue the same program tomorrow. I have a better relationship with my body, emotions, and thoughts and eventually, I can do more activities in a day while maintaining a well-rounded approach in life – encompassing all that is important to me.

The next question is, what is important to you?

Here are 7 things for reflection that you can start with on daily basis.

  • Your Purpose

It is good to have hope, merging it with little direction can result in a big difference.  Identify your life purpose or mission statement and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your true north every time. Sometimes when life reaches a dead end, your purpose opens away, a door to which you continue the journey.

One good thing about understanding your purpose is pinning down your purpose in each area of your life. Having a purpose is also understanding what you can give to the people and circumstances around you.  For example, what is your purpose to your partner, children, to yourself?

My purpose for my children is to empower them to be intelligent and responsible loving people. Does it mean that I need to fulfill all their desires? Not everything but only those that are aligned to my purpose – give them support in terms of love, security, time, teach them to decide, educate them, of course, that includes all the basic needs (home, food, clothing).

  • Your Values

Have you experienced being in a place, event, with a person and it doesn’t feel right? I did! That is because the experience is not aligned with my values. When we are less resistant to an experience, the more our energy merges with it, it becomes one with us.

What do you value most? Make a list of your top 5 values. Some examples are security, freedom, family, spiritual development, and personal growth. As you set your goals – check your goals against your values. If the goal doesn’t align with any of your top five values – you may want to reconsider it or revise it.

The number shouldn’t discourage you, instead, it should motivate you to do more than you can ever dream of.

  • Your Needs

Sometimes we take things for granted especially if it is about us. Yes, we do have needs! Just like everyone else. The biggest secret is the more we fulfill our needs, the better person we become for others.

Unmet needs can keep you from living authentically. Take care of yourself. Do you have a need to be recognized, to be right, to be in control, to be loved, to be taken care of? There are so many people who lived their lives without realizing their dreams and most of them end up being stressed, worried fearful, or even depressed for that matter. List your top four needs and get them met before it’s too late!

  • Your Passions

Our passion keeps us alive. We tend to delay the things that we truly enjoy. I’ll do that when… There will always be blockage or limitations when we are focused on them. The moment we free ourselves from these energies, the more we allow conscious freedom in our lives.

You know who you are and what you truly enjoy in life. Obstacles like doubt and lack of enthusiasm will only hinder you but will not derail your chance to become the person you ought to be. Express yourself and honor the people who have inspired you to become the very person you wanted to be.

  • Live from the inside out

What is happening outside of you is a reflection of what is inside you. When you are peaceful from within then the environment around you is also at peace.

Increase your consciousness of your inner wisdom by frequently reflecting in silence. Commune with nature. Breathe deeply to quiet your distracted mind. For most of us city slickers, it’s hard to even find the peace and quiet we want even in our own homes. In my case, I often just sit in a dimly lit room and play some classical music. There’s sound, yes, but music does soothe the savage beast.

  • Honor your strengths

Can you imagine how much you’ve grown in the last 5 years? I became more confident, outgoing, loving, caring, less egotistical, and a bit more spiritual.

What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List three – if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify these. Are you creative, witty, and good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you can share what you know to others.

Serve others

It is in giving that we receive. What you send to the world will always come back at you in multiple. When you live authentically, you may find that you develop an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, living your purpose and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit – your essence. The rewards for sharing your gift with those close to you is indeed rewarding, much more if it were to be the eyes of a stranger who can appreciate what you have done to them.
